For those with the kicker hideaway, is the bass control worth mounting to a reachable location? Or do you find just tuning it to a normal level is sufficient. If I install it, I'm thinking about installing it in the little 'cubby' that the trailer brake controller is normally located.

It is absolutly worth it. Especially if you have kids or frequent passengers. I drilled a hole in the top of the cubby you're taking about and ran the remote wire to it. Take the rubber pad out of the bottom and the remote wedges in there perfectly, no mounting required. You can't hardly see it from the driver seat, and if you ever need to remove it, you can push it out from the back using the hole drilled in the top.

Some people seem to believe that the LOC devices can get rid of distortion. LOL, if that were true most of my "Classic Rock " music would not sound correct. I still own a '69 Marshall plexi that makes the perfect (IMHO) non digital, tube-type distortion when your guitar has the right pickups in it. Ahhh - the good ol days!

If you don't own an XL, the sub harness is the least modified signal to use. When you tap the speakers you are amping it up and then using an LOC to "de-amp" it back, so that you can amp it back up for the sub. That certainly works when there are no other choices, but hey, the wpt1212 is <$30, and less work, and has already summed the L+R (I think). There is a setting that Forscan has to "not amp" at all (line level through speaker cables?) that I have yet to see anyone use and report the results.

Good post. I don't want the LOC to remove distortion. I want a flat signal before my amp that isn't changed by the Ford head unit.
