I wonder what everyone's thoughts are on the factory led headlights. I think they are pretty nice but realized they do not have a way to keep the lens from freezing up in the winter. I live in the northern part of the USA and it gets really cold in the winter and well, sometimes it rains as well! I had made a couple hour trip to the southern part of the state in the evening. It started to rain half way thru the trip. It took a while but I started to realize that it was getting harder to see the road and wondered if the lights had a problem. I stopped at the gas station and looked to find that the lights were totally iced over. Halogen lights don't freeze over since they put out so much heat. I wonder how much research has actually been done and how this can actually be DOT compliant.
Living were I do there's not an issue but I can see how it could be for some. Nothing you can do that I know of besides carry a hair dryer in the glove box....
Holy **** ive never seen that before but it makes sense to happen. Probably a perfect storm of rain plus freezing temps and if it does happen again just pull over and break it off.
I drove in freezing rain in my last vehicle and it accumulated more than a 1/4” of ice all across the front. It had factory HID headlights.
If it’s a big issue where you live, get a set of aftermarket road-legal auxiliary low beams that are heated. These are LED and heated. You’d have to buy some basic buckets for them. http://www.jwspeaker.com/smartheat-h...ontent=slider3

My truck has been through 2 winters now and it stays outside and I haven't experienced any LED light related issues. Then again, I have never seen my truck with ice build up like that yet.
