I am thinking that my truck might have came with the LED headlights installed from the factory, however I currently have the halogen setup in the truck.
I bought it used and its a 2016 Lariat FX4 SuperCrew. It has a lot of options that I don't think come in a Lariat such as the ambient lighting, pano roof, 35g fuel tank, etc.
It does have the rear LED tail lights with the blind spot radar thing.
What makes me ask is that I noticed a sharpie mark on the head lights in the corner (see attached pic).
Is there a way to tell if the truck came with them and they were removed?
Thanks!
I'm not sure why anyone would replace the factory LEDs with factory halogens. Maybe there was some accident damage and they were looking for a cheap fix before they sell it. Just a guess.
The factory LED headlamps use connectors C1284 (left) and C1285 (right) for all front lights - headlamps, park, and turn lamps. The halogen headlamps use C1021 (left) and C1041 (right) for the headlamps and C1023 (left) and C1043 (right) for park and turn. That means that to change the headlamp type the headlamp harness would either have to have been swapped out, the connectors cut off and new connectors installed, or a short adapter harness installed. Changing out the wiring harness would be a huge job since the headlamps are connected directly to the BCM. That would mean pulling the harness through the firewall, routing it under the BJB and battery box, etc. Likely they either cut the harnesses and installed new connectors, or used an adapter harness. If you check the harness at the headlamp you should be able to see if it is original or not or if there is an adapter harness.
Here is what C1021 and C1041 looks like:

The LED headlights came on the Lariat as part of the 502A equipment package. Part of that package was also the heated steering wheel. If you truck has the heated steering wheel, then it should have had the LED headlights.
No heated wheel however there was a maintenance record that popped up when I took it to the dealer for a steering wheel replacement. Not sure what that was all about but yea I don’t have it in the option on my MFT screen nor is there a physical button anywhere.
I’ll double check the connectors and check the vin link.
If for some reason the Window Sticker site doesn't work for your VIN, feel free to PM me your VIN and I can plug it into the Motorocraft Service OASIS site and get a list of the factory options.
Surefire method, ask your local service dept (or the post above) for a copy of your window sticker. Only a 502a package Lariat came with the LED headlights. 500a and 501a have halogen.
