Default F150 limited

Hey,

I'm looking at buying either a 2020 GMC Sierra Denali 6.2L, or a 2019/20 f150 limited.

Having seen some issues in the gmc's and silverados mostly with the 5.3L, I was wondering if there are any known issues with the raptor 3.5L EcoBoost engine that I should worry about. Seems like the 6.2 and EcoBoost get comparable mileage and both take premium. So just comes down to preference and long term ownership

How do you like your limited? Anything concerning as an owner you would do differently?

Thanks.

The H.O. Ecoboost doesn't require premium, but it makes more horsepower with premium fuel than it does on 87 octane.

I went from a Silverado LTZ 6.2 with every option to a 19 Limited. There is no comparison. The Limited will eat the Chevys lunch, but I don't really care about that. I get better mileage, around 22 mpg, depending on how hard I drive it, it rides better, it is way more quieter, the seats are more comfortable, I like the way Fords cooling seats work better, to me the electronics are more up to date, and easier to use. More room in the back, although the new GMs have better room than they did before. GM is proud of their tailgate step, but the F-150s step works fine for me, and I am old. I wonder what happens to the GM step when you drop it by mistake with a ball on the hitch??? Anyway, used to drive Fords in the 80s, and 90s switched to GM in 2000, had four since then, all had problems. Steering, suspension, electronic, transmission. So far the Limited has been great. Hope it continues.

This is true for the 6.2 in the Sierra as well. My dad has one in his current and former Yukon Denali(s) and Sierra Denali and it has (had) never seen premium.

To the OPs questions, I just picked up a '19 Limited. My experience with the HO version is limited (no pun intended) but in the 800 kms I have had it, there have been zero issues. The 3.5 in my '16 limited gave me no problems either over about 30k km. My honest opinion, for what it matters, is that the outside of the new Sierra looks pretty slick. I went to test drive one and quite frankly the interior kept me from even starting it up. It was not even close to the quality of that in the F150 and seemed at least a generation behind. Mile after mile of rock hard plastic. It is not even close to as nice as the current generation Yukon (the used to share interiors on the high end trucks and SUVs). Each to their own I guess. I didn't even look at the Ram as I was stung by the Chrysler/Daimler/Fiat/Whatever garbage company that owns them now with a Jeep years ago and can't even think about going back.

Tailgate on the Sierra seems to be a claim to fame, to me is seemed gimmicky and something I would never use.

My dad's 6.2 in his 17 Yukon got better mileage that my 3.5 Eco, as the 6.2 in his '19 does. I doubt the 3.5 HO will narrow that gap but no one should buy these sizes of vehicle for their fuel sipping capabilities <-- again my opinion cropping up.

I agree with Crazy Canuk, the GM interiors suck and I do not like the new looks, but to each his own. After four GM top of the line leather interiors, had to replace a 08 drivers seat because leather cracked and tore after one year. The leather is hard and slick. The seats are hard. The Limited interior is like glove leather compared to the GMs. I too was burned by Chrysler, so I did not even look.

I personally like the interior of the new GM's. Seems nice. I prefer it more than the new Fords. Looks im also towards GM.

But the ford interior seats are extremely comfy. They seem to have a lot of love from people who drive them (as every person does) and I enjoy hearing opinions. I have never had a v8, turbos do scare me as I currently drive a turbo inline 4.

Just curious to hear what others say about their experiences with Ford.

Thanks!

I've had my '19 for about 4 months/3500 miles. I came out of a 19 Silverado LTZ. I really didn't mind the Chevrolet except it leaked...which is why I dumped it. I didn't think the interior was as cheap as everyone says...I actually really liked it. I'd probably still have it if the service had been better(not sure Ford's is any better really but I was fed up with GM).

Mine Limited was in the shop the first week for a bad throttle body. They fixed it up and not a problem since. I don't mind little glitches like that since the electronics in these things are complicated and problems are bound to happen.

The leather in the Limited is really top notch. Buttery soft. The interior doesn't rattle at all(yet).

I have to say I was a little disappointed in the performance of the Limited. All the articles I read hinted that it was incredibly fast. While it certainly feels a lot stronger than the Chevrolet, or the F-150 regular ECO/5.0(at least the ones I drove), it just doesn't blow my mind. I think a lot of that is the turbo lag and also the heat in Tx. I'm sure it will feel a lot stronger when the air intake temps drop a bit. Certainly the weight of the vehicle has a lot to do with it too. My weekend toy is also an 800whp Shelby so maybe I just have clouded judgement.

That all said, I love my truck. It's quiet, fast(fast enough) and comfortable. If I had to buy another truck tomorrow, I'd buy the same one.

I have a 2018 - regular 3.5 ecoboost.
Truck rides good, fit and finish inside is darn good.
So many options (many I don't even use)
The thing I like the best is while there are close to a million F150's every year its rare to see a Limited on the road and I sure don't pass one on the way to work everyday.
enjoy,

- Doc

My 18, is running worse. it surges, rear end clunks. Its either the bad running or Transmission but sure bogs down
the motor where it gets a shutter feel. About 9,000 miles now. You just have to mash the pedal, which causes the
motor to spool up and take a moment to spool down.

I loved the 6.2L in my Camaro SS, it's a beast of a motor, but couldn't stand the AFM (active fuel management).
That alone would be one of the biggest issues stopping me from buying a GM truck.
