Default F150 Diesel first drive - MT

Sounds like a dog. An expensive dog. Pretty much what I expected. It will help the CAFE numbers, but I can't see any real reason to buy one.

Wow. Sounds like a turd. That was depressing to read. I wasn't a potential buyer before reading it. Not even a remote consideration now.

Yep, its under powered and struggles towing a decent load at highway speeds. Just like the eco-diesel. No big surprise here. I hope the I-6 Duramax in the Gm 1/2 tons at-least cracks the 300hp mark.

So if your towing heavy, you're still better off opting for the 3.5EB and pocketing that difference in $ if spent on the PSD

so what they're really saying without saying, is that it's better than the 5.0.

Sounds like a great option for those simply looking for fuel economy.

I've been researching the Nissan Titan XD diesel lately. Mainly because the factory rebates for leftover 2017 models have been between $8,000 and $12,000. Not much inventory left now. Went to look at one but it sold quick last week. But the reviews on Mr. Truck seem pretty good. Has 555 ft-lbs of torque and 310hp. Probably just enough hp to make the highway sluggishness on the diesel disappear.

What's strange though is Nissan doesn't offer a sunroof, on any trim level of their XD, nor radar cruise control, nor lane keeping assist, nor an exhaust brake, nor a bunch of other stuff. I realize diesel is a torque game, but you do need horsepower to complement it at highway speeds. Looks like Ford may be under powered.

Just remember the XD isn't really a 'half ton' truck. it's advertised as a half ton with 3/4 ton capability...so it's like a weird in-between.
