F150 auto start stop question
Want to survey F150 owners on their use of and opinions on whether they use or don’t use the auto start stop. Supposedly it’s supposed to save up to 7% on fuel usage in city driving.
My personal experience is very little difference, I have been testing the difference and on full tanks of regular unleaded same driving conditions and only got about 20 extra miles with a 36 gallon tank. Not sure that is worth the wear and tear on the starter.

I disabled *** from day 1. Don't see the need for it and less wear on the starter.
Not sure how true this is but thought I read on this site that *** increased blow by and leads to increased oil dilution. I have no proof to back that up but nor do I want to test it.

After hearing from so many people that think the auto start stop feature is useless and potentially causing wear and terror on the starting system I am convinced to disable it. What’s the best way to do that and where can I find the aftermarket part?

I will say it is annoying if I forget to disable it before i start responding to a fire call and it shuts off as im stopped to clear an intersection on a red light
Like djfilmn I have routine to disable on startup, HOWEVER it makes a great simple and quick tool for determining status of battery charge and end-of-life indicator for the battery. Soooo, on occasion I leave it on thru the first stop of the day to test the battery.
I purchased the AS/S eliminator that plugs into the obdii port when I first bought my truck 5 years ago. I've been very pleased with it, the $ is peanuts in the grand scheme of my happiness. If you do not tow, there is a plug you can disconnect very easily. I like to keep it readily available rather than turn off with shorting or Forscan, it is a tell sign of battery health.
