Default Exterior trim preventative maintenance

My first truck was a 2004 F150 and I loved it until the 5.4L decided to have massive cam phaser issues and timing chain rattle. I sold the truck and recently bought a 2016 F150 XLT that was a left over model at the dealer with great incentives. Most of the 2004's life was out doors and the bed rails and exterior trim pieces suffered from UV issues from the sun and always looked gray. Is there anything that can be applied to the new truck to prevent the exterior trim from fading?

I used Lexol on my 2004 sport trac and it performed well so I'm using it on the F150 as well. Have also seen others recommend 303.

303 Protectant - Best product for keeping plastic and vinyl protected and looking like new. It's what I use on my Access cover too, after many years it will still look brand new as was the case on my previous trucks that had them.

Also Adams polishes has a trim ceramic coating to protect trim. I have some sitting in my shop waiting to get put on my truck. Waiting on the pollen to stop falling as I only have a carport and the product needs to be dry for 24 hours to cure.

I used some Armor All type stuff on my exterior plastic.

Looked good until it rained. Then all that stuff ran all over my black paint. Ridiculous. Took about four washing's to get it all off. That stuff ran on my camera lens (from the rain), from the black plastic tailgate handle.

Does anyone make a protector that doesn't "run" when it gets rained on?

Yes, what I posted above. 303 Protectant. It's the best IMO.

Another vote for 303. It's the best stuff I found for vinyl and plastic protection in the brutal Texas sun/weather.

303 is an excellent product but if want to go a little further... Check out "Griot's Garage" products.

They have a specific cleaner, a protectant and a polish just for plastic. Have the same specific products for Rubber (and every other car product you can imagine) as well.
