Default ESB or not?

I’m two weeks past the 41/41 deadline so if I want an ESB now, it’ll have to be “used” and require an inspection. I’m not worried about the inspection. The truck is perfect. 2016 XL Sport Supercab. Only 28k miles. I only drive between 5 to 7000 miles a year, usually.
The truck has never been in the shop for anything except routine oil and filter service and suggested maintenance. In fact, of my previous two F150s only the 97 was ever in the shop and that was only one time. Something to do with a pitman arm. The 2009 never had a shop visit.
With my record, low mileage use, no towing, and the fact that I don’t drive a vehicle hard, I’m wondering if I should forego the cost of the used car ESP. I do plan on keeping it five or six more years but that’s only going to be about 60k miles total, at most.
Is there something major I should be worrying about?
2.6 Turbo. Automatic. Electric windows. Sync system

I know it’s always a gamble but the odds seem to be in my favor on this.

Save your money, or spend it on something meaningful.

Me personally (and this is just my two cents), I have rarely purchased an extended service protection on anything I have bought in the past. (including vehicles)

I recently just purchased a new 2019 about a month ago. After hearing about how dependable the truck is, lack of issues, the fact the ecoboost motor has been out for a while and the issues have been ironed out....and then going and getting hit up by the finance guy who was all doom and gloom about the truck and how I need to purchase all these different warranties and service plans....which I said no, to which he amped up the sales pressure, to which I said no again....and one more time around for good measure. (Maybe they need to hear no 3 times or something)

Since you have owned it since new (assuming) and know the history of the truck, only you can decide. There is a reason dealerships push these extended warranties so much...it's because they are a money maker for them. I have read past articles about how research has showed more times than not, you'd be financially better off without it....as the studies showed more individuals spent more money on the warranty than they would on the repair itself.

Being new to the Ecoboost, I began to read posts about it on here shortly after I purchased. Some of them for a second made me wonder what kind of a POS did I buy??? But, this forum is such a small sample of the total # of trucks like mine on the road, and everyone is quick to post about their complaint or issue, but rarely do you get the posts raving about no issues with their product......does it help some with peace of mind? Absolutely....however, I sleep just fine and will continue to build my "slush fund" from all of my past and current purchases I have made where I have passed on the extended warranties and will use those funds for when I run into an issue.

I've only had warranty work done once.
I had to have a rear end rebuilt. Total was was similar to cost of the warranty plan.
The pano roof that fails is nearly a $1500 repair. Pay for warranty or pay out of pocket.

As many vehicles with an IWE/Differential issue (4wd), maybe warranty is helpful if you don't know hot to replace yourself.

I'll always have a warranty. I'm okay tacking on 2k for a 30+k vehicle knowing that for about a hundred bucks, most major things will be covered.
How much would I save on a monthly payment if I chucked the $2000. I'll pay off the truck with 38 payments. To me it is worth it with the cost of today's repairs.
I guess at the end of the day I am okay financing 2k into a purchase more than I am okay finding a transmission shop to take my $2000.

With that said, you are in fact in a situation where you may take pocket cash for a repair that is never necessary should you purchase. Put that money away some place to make it available for repairs.
If you have a 4x4 and need to replace a wheel bearing and IWE that's probably more expensive than $500. I don't know, just guessing. It's $250-$300 in OEM parts at the shop. Cheaper online if you do work yourself.

I’m a fan of the Premium Care warranty especially if you have a higher trimmed truck. These trucks are jam pack with all kinds of high tech gadgets that will be pretty expensive if/when you need to have repaired. For me it’s cheap ins and piece of mind. Well worth the $2-3k imo.

I have bought the Ford Platinum Care warranty for all of my vehicles. You can save lots by buying online. Ziegler Ford is one example. The power seat motor went on my wife's Taurus. Part alone was over $600 not counting labor. Cost me $100 out the door. If you trade, you are refunded the unused amount.

If you are going to keep the vehicle, I say it is a no brainer. Especially so with all of the electronics on the new Trucks.

Just my $.02

I've never bought any extended warranty in my 58 years, but if I decide to keep this truck, I probably will buy it for the first time. So many potential issues with these damn trucks it's sad. You have cam phasers and IWEs failing way more than normal, and it's more a matter of when they will fail, than if. And those alone can be thousands of $$$. Then other issues like the moonroof, APIM, Sync, etc., that are also common enough to take a gamble. The good news is that for low milers like the OP and myself, it's a lot cheaper. The best plan for me (forgot the years and mileage, but I think it's 7/75, and with zero deductible) is around $1K, so quite reasonable. If the truck gives me any serious issues before having to buy the ESP (probably a year from now), I'd just dump it, since I don't want to go thru a cam phaser change, since it's quite intrusive.
