Default Error codes 0420, 0430

My 2020 XLT is 53,000 miles and the check engine light came on with error codes 0420 and 0430. The light turned off for about a week then came back on. This has happened intermittently over the last month. I know the codes indicate a catalytic converter problem but just wondering if changing an O2 sensor could help. I'm grasping at straws trying to avoid this expense at such a low mileage level.

Take it to a dealer. You're within the 8/80 federal emissions warranty and it should still be covered. Consult your owner's manual for an overview of the warranty.

O2 sensors usually do NOT cause catalyst efficiency fault codes, changing them rarely resolves the issue. That said, there's usually an underlying reason for catalyst failure, usually from running too rich or having misfires. THAT repair may not be covered though.

I just had the same on my 2020 XLT with about 50 thousand miles on it. The dealer replaced both cats and was covered 100% under warranty
