Engine Swap?
Saw an ad for a 2018 Raptor engine, transmission and transfer case all for $6K. What would be involved in swapping this engine into my '15 F150 2.7? I would just use the engine and mate it to my 6 speed transmission, then selling the trans/transfer case. What other items would be required for this swap.
The 2017-up 3.5 is a different generation than what came with the 2016-earlier trucks. It has dual injection, so you need an ECU with 12 injector drivers. It was never paired with the 6R80, so there isn't a factory ECU out there already set up for a 2017+ 3.5 and the 6R80.
You would need the entire ECU, engine harness, transmission harness, possibly body harness from a 2017-up truck. You would have to have someone reprogram the ECU to control the 6 speed, which may not even be possible. It would probably be easier to swap a Raptor cluster and shifter and TCCM and run the 10 speed.
Either way you're talking weeks of downtime (maybe more while you pay someone to research and troubleshoot all of the stuff that doesn't work), and unless you're doing the mechanical, electrical, and programming work all by yourself, probably another $6-10k for the labor easy.
