Engine sputtering and sulphur smell?
My 2015 lariat Eco started sputtering on me today. Didn't really test anything yet just wondering if anyone else had this issue? Drove it for about a half mile all under 20mph with a few stops just to see if it would go away but it didn't. Also noticed a sulphur smell maybe coming from the engine so I opened the hood and it's definitely coming from there. Ford dealers aren't open yet so wondering if anyone has any ideas.

Quick research says either a bad battery or a bad catalytic converter.
You're smelling a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrogen_sulfide somewhere

A bad catalytic convertor would be my first guess too.

So I took it to the shop and as is always the case, it wasn't doing it when I got there. The smell is considered normal at times with the ecoboosts from what they said but you shouldn't really ever notice it unless you really get on the gas. However, they did find out that I had some misfires on startups several times which is what I was noticing. Wasn't a code so I never saw a light come on but they updated or reprogrammed the PCM I believe is what he said and it should fix it.
Up until this point I have always hated how many electronics all new vehicles have but considering they were able to find and hopefully solve the problem due to using the onboard computers even tho it wasn't having the issue at the time, I am pretty happy.

Hydrogen sulfide is a chemical compound with the formula H 2S. It is a colorless gas with the characteristic foul odor of rotten eggs; it is heavier than air, very poisonous, corrosive, flammable, and explosive.

I wouldn't worry. Gasoline has most of those qualities and we all ride around with 20 or more gallons of it sloshing around under our butts every day.
