Default Engine cover On/Off?

This may have been discussed before, but am I the only one that removes the engine cover during warmer months and replaces it during colder ones?

NO! We remove the engine covers on all of our vehicles since we live in a rural area. The rodents made a huge nest in my wife's Passat and ever since then all covers were removed. Since we only have a carport, the hoods remain open, this is standard practice in our area. The covers serve mainly for looks with marginal improvements in sound reduction, in my opinion.

I removed the insulation from mine and then reinstalled the cover.

Cooler running? I'm sure it is but didn't do a before and after study.

Noise? Can't tell for sure maybe a little noisier but my 2.7 is quiet to start with compared to just about anything I've owned over the past 40 yrs.

I too live in a rural setting and never had issues. I think that not having the insulation as a source of nesting material available is a good deterrent.

Looks? Under hood appearance is the same and if the cover offers any protection from water or dust, that benefit is still there.

Do whatever makes you feel better but it's not enough of a change in temps to move the needle either way.

Truck came with it, so I leave it.

Truck didn't come with it, so I added it.

What does leaving the hood open do?

Truck came with it. The driver side retainer nut got cross threaded, didn't want to budge when I tried to remove it. Ended up cutting around it, therefore, I have no more engine cover. LOL

Mine has it and it never occurred to me to remove it.

Do what you like, but removing the engine cover in warm weather is pointless.
