Hello everyone, I have had some serious problems with my parking brake that started last year. Long story short my parking brake stopped working in a snow storm. The orange light came on then when I tried to activate the red warning light came on also. About a hour later my wipers stopped working, Brought the truck to my buddies shop. Found a blown fuse for the parking brake and that seemed to fix it. Wipers took them a couple of days but found a wire that was throwing way too much voltage in the harness under the wiper cowl. Spliced a new wire on and has been good ever since. Parking brake started acting up a month or two later. It rained pretty hard yesterday and I was driving the parking brake lights were having a spasm flicking on and off with no pattern just complete erratic. Took the truck right down to him, fuses looked good. He tested both rear brake actuators manually wkth power and they functioned fine. Ran a continuity test across the left going the the right side and right side going left. He said all looked good and no signs of a broken wire underneath. We hooked up the solus to the truck and it gave us a couple codes. Sometimes the system doesn’t let the scanner communicate when trying to read codes. Like something is periodically loosing connection. We tried replacing the parking brake control module and that did nothing. Hoping there isn’t a broken wire near the fuse box as he said there was some weird stuff going on and wasn’t getting continuity when testing some of the fuses.(and the telescoping Mirror relays were clicking every time wed put the parking brake fuses back in). Anyone have any tips? I’ll attach the codes below. Thanks
U3000:49 Control Module: Internal Electronic Failure
SET the ignition to OFF. DISCONNECT and INSPECT the EPB module connector, both parking brake actuator electrical connectors, the parking brake control switch electrical connector and all related in-line electrical connectors for corrosion, bent pins, pushed-out pins and spread terminals. REPAIR or INSTALL new as necessary. Refer to Wiring Diagrams Cell 5 for schematic and connector information.
If the connectors are OK, SET the ignition to OFF, REMOVE the key from the vehicle, CLOSE all doors and WAIT at least 10 minutes.
SET the ignition to ON. Using a diagnostic scan tool, CLEAR the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). APPLY and RELEASE the parking brake using the parking brake control switch.
CYCLE the ignition. Using a diagnostic scan tool, CARRY OUT the EPB module self-test. RETRIEVE and RECORD all Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

If the DTC returns INSTALL a new EPB module.
Could a short circuit somewhere be causing the EPB to take a crap? I just find it odd it only acts up during heavy rain/snow storms.
Yes it could. The first step is to check all the wiring. You need to rule out any wire or connector issues before anything else.
yeah well my buddy said there was some odd continuity issues in the fuse box when he was testing the slots for the EPB. I can’t remember exactly what happened but it was strange. I have a feeling something is fried up there but hoping someone could give me some tips
