Default Electrical bleed off '

Sometimes, but not always, I get an electrical bleed off on my '15 Lariat when it's sat for usually 2 or 3 days that drains the battery. I carry a fluke 87 meter, and the first time it bled down to 6.8 volts. The last two times it has happened, it bled down to 1.8 volts, seriously dead battery. There probably has been numerous posts addressing this issue, but I didn't see them, sorry. I brought the truck into the ford dealer, and they said there is a bulletin concerning this. They want me to leave the truck for 3 days, to see if it happens again. I can't live with that, presently, and I live 28 miles from the Ford Dealer.
Has anyone seen or heard of a fix for this issue?

As an Electrician, I hate it when my electrons bleed out all over the floor.

Definitely a problem there. Have you hooked up your meter to the battery and measured the draw with everything off?

Well, they did that at the dealership, and didn't find anything; but it seems like there is no draw, unless I don't touch it for a least 2 days. The truck starts up beautifully if just left overnight.
I don't remember how to set my meter to detect a draw?? Can you tell me how to do that? Old Fluke 87

I know it! Those electrons bleeding all over can cause one heck of a mess also.

Take off one of the wires, set the meter to amps and put it between the wire and terminal. Could just be a bad battery also I have seen that.

Set your meter to DC. Pull the negative cable off the battery and place your black lead from the meter on the battery post and the red lead from the meter on the negative cable you removed from the battery. You could get the exact specs from the factory service manual but a good rule of thumb is there should be less than 50Ma draw with everything off. More than 50Ma indicates a electrical problem, less than 50Ma draw and the battery is going dead indicates bad battery.

Have it tested for free at an Autozone or somewhere similar.

Question

The first of two times to the dealership, Ford replaced the battery. I hope the first battery was bad, but the truck is still bleeding energy. In fact, it's getting worse rather than better. Two days, battery dead instead of 3. 1.8 volts, rather than at first 6.7 volts. The new battery seems to recover quickly, and maintain; if I just leave it for 1 day, rather than 2 days. It starts normally after 1 day of just sitting. When the battery is dead, I do check the lights, etc, for a potential draw. I have a load tester, and the battery tests normal. The problem is not the battery.

I had a similar issue with my 14 FX4. 5 batteries in 9 months before ford agreed to replace it as a lemon. Never could find what the drain was. One thing that was suspected was my V1 used a connection to the OBD port and they thought that might be triggering all the systems to cycle but they never found anything there either. Fortunately my 16 Lariat 502a has nor shown any signs of issues although, just to be safe, I hardwired the V1 to a switched feed and junked the OBD sensor.. i feel for you
