Default Eco Mode Parameters

Am pleased with my '19 RCSB, 5.0, 3.73, 4WD. In "normal" mode typically get 19ish MPG around town. Made a recent, 800 mile trip. On a 400 mile tankful got 26 MPG. Speed was 50-55-MPH on rural highways. Filled with 91 octane non alcohol fuel. Used Eco Mode exclusively. Question is, does Eco Mode only effect the transmission, or does it also influence engine operating parameters. Please, only interested in feedback from owners with specific knowledge base.

Curious, what is your truck's curb weight?

Eco mode shifts into higher gears faster and dramatically retards the throttle. Nothing else.

Oh, and it sucks every last ounce of fun out of these trucks.

With the 5.0 engine I note no significant performance difference between normal and eco modes. I drive very conservatively wanting this new truck to last as well as my '98 4.6 F150. Regarding performance, I have powerful fast cars as toys. ('68 GT500 with a 500+ HP side oiler and a twin turbo BMW) The truck is for business and hunting trips.

Still curious if someone in-the-know has insight to engine influence by eco mode. I am thrilled with 26 MPG.

I only use ECO on the Interstate with Cruise Control. It does seem to desensitize the throttle and change the shift pattern. It also seems to alter some engine parameters at least on the baby-boost.
I can be in ECO on level ground and change the mode to Normal and can feel the slightest 'surge' like boost was increased.

going 50-55 was probably the largest influence on the mileage. I can get that mileage on my f350 diesel at that speed.

In highway driving at cruising speed, there isn't much difference between Eco and Normal. Put your foot into it, and Eco feels slower, even resistant, to downshift.

Your moderate speed was responsible for your difference in gas mileage... I make frequent road trips on highways with speed limits of 70-75 mph, which means my cruise control is set at 75-80 mph, and I've found that Eco mode makes little or no difference from Normal under those conditions. I think the best I've done on those trips is 18.3 mpg.
