Eco Boost?

Eco Boost?
I searched but it did not come up, please redirect me if you can.
My question is When do you get the most out of eco boost mode?
I have the 2019 STX 4X4 V6 turbo.
I cant seem to get an answer out of the dealer in fact they could not even describe what happens when you engage it.
I believe it drops a couple cylinders and cuts fuel as well as adjust timing.
I have tried it in different situations and the results are all over the place.
Another Ford owner I know with a 2015 claims its just a bunch of hype for California.
Your thoughts..

2.7 or 3.5? I assume you mean that you are selecting Drive Modes? The Eco function trims back timing and fuel. There is not an "eco boost" mode, just an Eco(nomy). If you drive it around, you will also notice that it shifts you in to overdrive quicker unlike Sport that holds the gears.

Your thinking of GM, they drop cylinders from firing to save on fuel, their V8 can fire on anything from 2 to all 8 cylinders. I’m not sure on the Ecoboost but I know my 5.4 says it can drop combustion on cylinders on an overheat condition to help cool.

The ecoboosts in the f150 do not have cylinder deactivation. Only the new small 1.0 and 1.5l versions have that capability. The drive modes change the throttle mapping and shift schedule, so some of that may also go to timing tables and boost schedule to get the desired characteristics.

Obusnizzle covered it above. I suspect it also modifies the fly by wire throttle as well and adds a "smoothing" to it. I think by filtering out minute throttle adjustments from your foot it helps save some fuel. I think they also modify the throttle curve and it is more exponential than linear, meaning it requires progressively more throttle for the same amount of power out of the engine.
It should improve mileage a bit overall but it highly depends on the type of driving.

I'm more impressed with the 5 posts over 7 years! I like Ecomode but here is where I'm confused and couldn't get a clear answer. Someone posted the engineering stats on the modes and how it relates to fuel economy. If eco mode provides BETTER fuel economy, why didn't Ford test the truck in this mode, for EPA ratings, and have it as the standard mode? For this reason alone I'm not sure if I would benefit even using it. All I seem to get is a more gentle throttle which I guess could help keep RPM's low.
