EB 3.5 with rod through block at 10K - Livernois tune
Loved the tune while I had it - fortunately covered by warranty.
Just pulling away and boom, shake and oil on the ground.
Running Livernois 87 performance. Just regular driving. Added tune at about 3K.
Called Livernois but they weren't really interested, other than trying to sell me a new short block. That was a little disappointing.
Didn't add the tune back on - this spooked me enough to stay away from further tunes.

So Ford should eat a motor that had an aftermarket tune? If you think they won't cover it so your covering up the facts, that's pretty tacky. You made the choice to put on aftermarket parts and when they cause an issue you lie about it.
And people complain about STEALERSHIPS.

Waiiiiit. That's all you're gonna say??? How about...
What did the dealership say?
Were they willing to cover it even knowing it had an aftermarket tune in it?
Livernois is supposed to be decent, what went wrong??

I too was surprised with response (called twice, spoke with two different people, looking for advice) after reading everything here, but I honestly don't think they want to know and/or track blown engines - ignorance is bliss.
Wasted $600 but saved over $10K is how I am looking at it now...

Maybe, but tell me the last time a stock motor in a pick-up truck tossed a rod through the block? Highly unlikely it was caused by anything other than the Livernois tune.

I ALWAYS get live tuned.... No ifs and or buts. Waaaayyyy to many variables on these engines to just roll the dice with a canned tune. Thought its NOT 100% fool proof, with a live tune at least the tuner can see exactly what is going on with YOUR engine and tune for that. MPT here in Florida

Great point icecoldak. If you compare the number of times Ford refuses warranty services that shoudl be covered, I think Ford can stand to lose one now and then. I'm not suggesting anyone should lie at all, just saying that I agree that nobody may never know what caused it. It would be interesting to know what the tune changes in how the engine behaves with everyday driving. What OP may not be saying fully is how he drove it since having the tune and not just on the day of the problem. Not judging at all, but I know with a tune, I tend to drive my past trucks a little harder due to the "butt in seat" test.
I say OP is lucky on this one either way and this makes me think if I ever did a tune again, I might consider the extending warranty some shops offer as my luck would be that Ford would deny my claim.
