Default DTC Code B1115

So I have a stupid question
Ran my DTC codes for the first time now that I have FORScan. Code B1115 popped up in my BCM module.
Description says High Mounted Stop Lamp Control, Incorrect Current Consumption, Suspect Incorrect Bulb Fitted
it can’t be that simple the rear stop lamp is LED strip don’t see how there can be a mix up

My manual shows the following:

B1115:11 High Mounted Stop Lamp Circuit Short to Ground
A continuous memory and on-demand DTC that sets when the BCM detects a short to
ground from the high mounted stoplamp voltage supply circuit.

B1115:15 High Mounted Stop Lamp Circuit Short to Battery or Open
A continuous memory and on-demand DTC that sets when the BCM detects an open or short to voltage from the high mounted stoplamp voltage supply circuit.

Is the DTC active or is it historic? FORScan should tell you.
What is the failure type or failure byte? This is the number after the colon [:].

Have you made any parameter changes using FORScan? Sometimes during writing information to a module ghost DTCs can be issued and they just need to be cleared.

If all said above checks OP, you might have a dreaded leak (common issue), which triggered the fault during a rain, or after a wash. I'd check that all light functions work, clear the DTCs, and buy a new gasket, and replace it. Good luck.

I mentioned what the 15 means in a previous post. The number after the dash is the Occurrence Counter (OC) in hex. '0A' is 10 times. You have a wiring issue somewhere in that circuit. I would suggest you look at the connectors and make sure they are properly latched and you need to check all the pins and make sure they are properly seated inside the connector. Occasionally, during manufacturing of the harness, the pins don't get all set properly and can partially pull out of the connector causing intermittent issues. The '15' failure code is generally for an open circuit, which would indicate this is in fact the case.

Good luck.

If you had a cap fitted on your truck, I bet they disconnected that stop lamp.
