Driver Seat Issues
Hello all. New member here looking for some help. I have a 17 F150XLT that I bought used from a local dealer just short of a year ago. It has tons of power options, and it also came with a ghost apparently. Does anyone else have an issue with the driver seat automatically reclining almost every time you start the truck? This truck does not have the memory recall options. I have noticed when I get in the truck, the seat is in the position that I last left it in, but shortly after starting the truck, it reclines slightly without touching the power seat options. If I remote start the truck, the seat will still be in the proper spot when I get in, but as soon as I put the key in and turn the ignition switch on, it does the recline also. It's not a full recline, but more of just a couple inches....just enough to be an annoyance more than anything as it requires me to re-position the seat back into my usual position. I took it to the dealer a few weeks ago for the door latch freezing recall and the engine block heater cord recall and when I mentioned the issue to them, they wanted an extra $100 just to diagnose it. I told them it wasn't worth paying a diagnosis fee just yet. Anyone else have this issue or have any ideas what could be causing it? I am sorry if this has already been discussed elsewhere on here. I did try to check first, but again, I am new here, and may not have searched correctly.
Thanks in advance.

You aren't alone...i thought i was crazy and just figured my mind was playing tricks on me...mine will recline back not very much but just enough to know that it moved. I thought maybe I was somehow brushing up against the control entering or exiting. I have a 16 with the 302a I've had it since August

My 2016 XLT would do the same thing occasionally. Sometimes it would be reclined just a little bit, sometimes it would be reclined a few inches, and on two occasions it was reclined all the way back into the rear seat bottom.
Although it would only happen as the truck sat overnight, not after I got into it.

There is a recall out for an "improperly assembled reclining mechanism". Received it for our 2019 F-150 and there is no issue with these seats. Ignoring it for now. Wonder if this issue started with earlier model years. Might be worth looking into it. The recall notice number shows as 19C07/NHTSA Recall 19V-633.
Not sure why the selling dealership wouldn't have fixed the recall.
Is it ONLY the seat back?
Not sure if the XLT has the entry/exit mode thing. Or if the XLT has memory seating based on one of 3 presets. Those are 2 other options if it is more than just the seat back adjusting. Or if it only happens when being started, my options are invalid.

I agree that if there was a recall, that it should have been fixed when it was in for the other recalls, but the local dealer I go to is the "largest Ford Dealer in the State of Indiana" and also the laziest. When I took it in for 1 recall, I had to actually ask them if they were going to fix the 2nd recall, to which the service writer actually asked me if I wanted them to do so....No idiot, why would I want to bring it back if its already in for 1?
Yes, it is only the seat back that moves. It's not a substantial move, only a couple of inches. Basically just enough to tell it has reclined and needs a quick 1 or 2 second move back to the normal position that I keep it at. A few weeks ago, I left it alone after the first start and drove it in that reclined position and tested it when I got back in the truck the next time to see if it would do it again, and it did, reclining even further back. At that rate, it would only take about 5 or 6 trips to be fully reclined. I do not know if there is any type of entry/exit mode on this truck. I found the factory window sticker online using the VIN and it does not mention it as an option, and if it works anything like my Dodge Charger RT, my Charger moves the entire seat back and the steering wheel forward as soon as the vehicle shuts off and automatically goes back to normal when the vehicle starts. This truck does not do that. It only seems to reline shortly after start up. I actually think it does it when I am reversing, as I have been paying even more attention to it now, and it does not seem to move while sitting in the driveway, but after backing out onto the street and when going from reverse to drive, I immediately notice the change in seat position. I do not have the memory recall buttons in my truck to set up memory positions for multiple drivers, so I would assume without having the buttons, my truck doesn't have the memory feature. I swear Casper the Ghost is messing with me.

It would be nice if the dealers fixed all the vehicles with recalls on their lot BEFORE selling them to some poor selling them . then the poor bas^&** has to bring it back to get it done.
