Driver door B-pillar trim cracked, need replacement

Wow, it's amazing what some dealers come up with. If your truck didn't already have a keypad, then yes, it would need to be programed (enabled using IDS or Forscan). Since your truck already has the keypad, then it's already enabled. They keypad code is tied to the truck not the keypad. Whether you're re-using your keypad or getting a new one, it will work without further programing.
In my understanding, the keypad is "dumb," just an input device, and any codes/etc. are stored in one of the truck's vast modules. I said this to the service manager, and he disagreed.
Thanks for confirming.

I'm finally getting around to replacing my keypad. I was at the dealer yesterday to get unrelated parts, so I stopped by the service desk and asked for a quote to replace it. Labor only was about $240, or two hours.
I have the part on order anyway, and so I'll probably do it myself. But the dealer has me questioning something... they said they need to "program" the keypad? I figured it was as "easy" as pulling the door panel and the B-pillar trim, then unplugging the old keypad and plugging in the new one.
Is there programming involved?
