Whether you're re-using your keypad or getting a new one, it will work without further programing.
That's what I thought.

In my understanding, the keypad is "dumb," just an input device, and any codes/etc. are stored in one of the truck's vast modules. I said this to the service manager, and he disagreed.

Thanks for confirming.

I have the part on order anyway, and so I'll probably do it myself. But the dealer has me questioning something... they said they need to "program" the keypad? I figured it was as "easy" as pulling the door panel and the B-pillar trim, then unplugging the old keypad and plugging in the new one.

Is there programming involved?
When I replaced my keypad/pillar trim, it was plug and play. No need for programming as others mentioned.
