I like your suggestion. Can you share the part number or which rear diff it is from? 8.8 or 9.75? I don't know if they are the same.

You can't get the cover off is the issue, not that you need to reseal it.

The mag plug is a good idea, the suction, well it worked on mine, but it leaves so much in there that you need to do a flush fill and drain/suction again.

Hi everyone,
When searching for this amsoil SEVERE GEAR or Royal Purple 75W-140, all I see is with friction modifier/additive for limited slip differential. Do they make this lub for none limited slip?
Thanks.

The friction modifier is not an issue for a open differential.

Yeah, those oils are likely good for use with friction modifier, no issues using in an open diff though. I don't recommend the Royal purple gear oil over the Amsoil for the 75w140 though.

Thanks for the info.

Also, since my car is very old and has a lot of miles, I wonder if I should be to worry about the "synthetic enhances leak"?
Thanks again.

No idea what your vehicle is or what your application is, which diff are you changing the oil in and what is the vehicle? And no, wouldn't worry about the synthetic part anyway.

Thanks.
Sorry, I forgot that I jumped into someone else's thread without any info on my car. Mine is a 2006 4.6L with 3.55 gear ratio. This question is for replacing differential lub

Rear diff? front diff? you didn't state 4x4 or not, so it could be either? If you're looking for a 75w140 though, i'd have to assume you're looking at rear diff?

The above assumptions all being correct, I don't think you can go wrong with the Amsoil severe gear 75w140.

My car is the simplest basic model, no 4x4. Even side view mirrors and windows are manual.

Thanks again.
