dreaded 10 speed issues
Hi guys , I have a 19 lariat with the crappy 10 speed 3.5 eco ( my 15 6 speed was way better ) and it started having issues when its with the trans not shifting right , when warmed up it's great . I had it serviced by Ford at about 40k when it started running hot on a trip to Florida with just 2 mx bikes in the bed lol . I talked my local guy and he suggested drop the filter and such with them installing the new program if there is one . He did say he heard through the grapevine ford might be doing a recall on these trannys which they should. If that doesn't fix it i think I'm going GMC, Chevy with the 3.0 duramax . Other than that I love this truck .
Same transmission in GM and Ford. You say tomatoes I say taMAHtoes...but in my experience the 10 speed is night-and-day better than the 6 speed, and I have had both. There's at least one TSB on these transmissions, and several YouTube/TikTok videos on what goes wrong on those that it does go wrong in.

2018 - 2019 - 2020 - 2021 - 2022 - 2023 - ...how many transmissions? And recall for what? oy vay!

the rubber belt used on the 3.0L Duramax oil pump drive.
Yes, you can have the 10 speed rebuilt, but will that fix it long term? I've heard transmission shops say they don't know if there is any real fix yet. Notice how the latest TSB goes through 2023, which
tells me Ford has not fixed this yet at the manufacturing level. I fear this may be like some transmissions from years past, there may never be a long term reliability fix.
These new vehicles are too complex, and built to cheaply to ever be reliable long term. Now they are starting particulate filters for gasoline engines, and nearly everything will have cooled EGR.
Just more problems, and expense waiting to hit consumers.
I am personally considering an electric car, and I plan to look at a new Chevy Bolt this weekend.
