Default Down shifting

Have a 2015 xlt 5.0 twice now it has downshifted into 1st gear at 50 mph. Not a fun moment. took it to dealer they hook it up to gauges and take for a ride and say all is good? No codes no lights. When it happens it just stays in first come to a stop try to take off again it will not shift have to put in park shut truck off and then everything is all right again?

You're not in manual mode and/or hitting the shifter buttons? Sounds to me like it's locking out all the other gears for some reason.

No in auto both times. I just got off interstate where I was going 75. Then I have to drive 10 miles from offramp to my house on country roads that's where it happens.

Although not included in the recall years, that sounds just like the issue with earlier years with the lead frame recall. Downshifting to first is what it does when it has a problem. Ford reprogrammed transmissions and extended the warranty on the lead frame.

I'd have my dealer checking that, even if not part of the recall years, sounds like same issue.

I'll ask them about it has to go back for new front hub. Warranty is what I'm worried about I'm at 56,000 Not much left. Might have to trade it in I can't trust it now with winter here there is no way you'd be able to hold it on the road especially when going up north with snowmobile trailer.

My friend had this happen multiple times in his 2015, dealer fixed it under warranty. I thought he had mentioned a TSB for it, I'll have to ask him about it.
