Default Door Seal Mod ?

So I saw a thread about the door seal mod and decided to do it. Ordered 1/4” OD medical grade silicone tubing from HPS Performance the next day. Get ready to install tubing and notice my door seals are not split at the bottom. You can see a fine line like they were split but now glued/ fused together. Should I cut them at this joint or just forget about doing this mod? Any thoughts?

I did it and used contact cement to glue it back together. Only been a couple months and so far so good.
