Does your 2017+ F150 Ecoboost or 5.0 L have the on/off throttle rattle?
Do you have a F150 with the on/off throttle rattle and have already gone back to Ford and had the useless repair and then told it was a 'normal characteristic'? What route are you taking?
Please comment year, model, engine, build date, plant etc in the comment section. ie 2017 F150 XLT, 3.5 L ecoboost, July 2017, Kansas City
Result as at 2019 03 30:127 respondents, 70 yes, 57 no; estimated percentage of rattling engines in the 2017+ model years lies between 46% and 64%, with a confidence of about 73%. Would like to get at least 400 people to respond to poll.

I'd start by going to another dealer... ideally a big-city, high-volume dealership with a large service department.
If that didn't work, I'd call Ford Corporate, then start wearing them out on social media.

Does that work? I've heard people get results that way but I also was told by a lawyer that one of his clients did that and they got a cease and desist. But I agree...the larger volume dealers are more likely to have the staffing to get things taken care of. The smaller dealerships just don't have the space or the personnel to look much deeper into an issue than pulling out a scantool.

Ford just recalled a million cars for the airbag fiasco........waaaay later than the other manufacturers. Ford has known for years about this. That basically says IDGAF with a situation that has proven to result in death.
Recall a bunch of trucks for only a loose timing chain? It doesn't matter if they find a solution. Ford isn't going to take responsibility.

I heard the exact same noise on a Hyundai Genesis which happens to use the same VCT system from Borg-Warner. I am inclined to believe this is inherent to the system.
Ripping the engine apart probably does more harm than the noise.

So maybe we wait for an aftermarket part replacement phaser and hope that it is better than the Borg-Warner part? But that means we are going to have to foot the bill to resolve the issue.

Please vote in the poll!! Let’s see whether this is widespread normal characteristic or affecting few or many.
The more people that vote the better!!

Hit them where it hurts. Reply to the Ford social media posts on their Facebook page with this video and warn others as well. I am sure they will listen then. They cannot do anything to you legally. All you're doing is warning others of a faulty product.
