Does my Sync have CarPlay???
Hello all. I'm new to the F-150 family (yesterday) and new to this forum. I have a 2019 XLT 3.5L Ecoboost w/8" infotainment screen with Sync v3.3. I can connect to the infotainment center with my iPhone 13 via bluetooth and stream music from my phone. I can also make calls. I see an Android app on the screen but I do not see a CarPlay app. How can I determine if it came with the truck and just isn't working, or if for some reason it wasn't included? It's not listed on the build sheet. Also, if the truck didn't come with it, how can I get it loaded?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Plug your phone into the USB port in the front cubby under the climate controls. As long as you've enabled Carplay on your phone, it should automatically connect to it.
If for some reason it's not there, try updating your Sync. 3.4 is the latest version.

Your truck does NOT support wireless carplay, so you will need a quality cable (recommend using the Apple cable) and connect to the USB as suggested by Azzurri. It has been so long since I've set mine up, but as I recall you must enable CarPlay (and/or Android Auto) in the SYNC settings. At the moment, I don't recall which screen but it is under SETTINGS. And enable CarPlay on your iPhone. Once those 3 things are done, CarPlay should come up. Good luck and welcome to the forum.
I have connected it via a USB cable but all I get from that is the charging. When I access CarPlay on the phone while it is plugged in it searches for available cars but does not find any. Interestingly enough, there were some residual phones listed from the PO and when I looked at them it showed a CarPlay attribute. I deleted them before I realized I couldn't get CarPlay so I can investigate that further. When mine is connected I do not see that attribute with it.

You MUST use a higher grade usb cable. Many usb cables (mostly the cheap ones) are not capable of transferring data , charge only.
The cables you get at the drug store, gas station, or at grocery store checkout generally do not do data.
