Default Does this mean my timing jumped a tooth?

I’ve been having some issues with my engine, missing intermittently, and the cam phasers were rattling pretty bad so I went ahead and started breaking the engine down in order to change them. I noticed when I rotated the engine that it looked like my marks were off… Does this mean that the engine jumped a tooth for timing?

No, as the chain goes around the marks on the timing chain will not always line up on the cam phaser marks and crank. If you are putting the timing chain on, use those marks on the chain to line up to the timing dots on the cams and the double mark I between the crank timing mark. You could always take the timing chain off and line it up with the marks. Never know if someone installed it incorrectly. That way you can eliminate that as an issue

i had a vehicle that had intermittent miss fire and it turned out to be the computer (ECM or BCM). Only way I found it was I took it to a independent mechanic and he monitored it with a scan tool while driving and diagnosed it… after the ford dealership threw parts (plugs- coils-injectioners)at it and couldn’t figure it out
