Do factory recalls expire?
Just curious it's not an F 150 so sorry if I wasn't supposed to post here but my dad has an edge that the brake booster went out and there was a recall and they told him it expired after 10 years or 150k miles. Thanks
Folks tend to lump TSB, SSM, etc, all under the term of recall.

But those expire with the warranty. Recalls never expire, as already stated above. And yes, it's important to determine what the heck those documents are officially called, for that reason
. Recalls are typically issued when lives could be in danger. If not, like something cosmetic, or not affecting safety, it's probably not a recall
. Hope this helps.

While safety and emissions recalls don't have expiration dates, they are not enforced past reasonable limits. Ex. If the parts are no longer being produced, you are on your own. If the part in your vehicle is a decade old and was the last year for that part, Ford may no longer stock the part. Even though you may be able to get it from an auto parts store, Ford would not be required to pay for a replacement.
This is correct, I was JUST told this about my wifes Edge at a local dealer.
