DIY- Mini H1 7.0 Projector Retrofit
The silver set has mini H1 upper projectors with a functional high beam and the lower is a H1 dummy with a 9005 led drl bulb to compliment the look of functional quads. I have never had an issue with high beam solenoids on the minis only D2S and I know how to fix those before I install. The ruby red and tuxedo black set has full function quads using D2S x lens projectors. Both fit with about the same amount of cutting using the 3.0 shrouds. Tons of clearance work has to be done bother to the shrouds themselves as well as the bezel of the headlight to maintain full adjustment for aiming. Not a task anyone should attempt in the first go around. If you do it yourself stick with minis and mini shrouds. I've been at it 3 years and it's still a lot of work for me.

I'd let him know you want to do quad today so he can have the parts ready for you this weekend. For MY setup (would be different with OP since he didn't do bi-xenon) basically the bottom is there to compliment the upper lights, the DS2 put out a nice far spread, but not as wide as the h-1. So it will be a good mix. Besides that, it will LOOK nice IMO.
Now, if I just painted the whole housing I think it wouldn't look too bad without a second HID set. I am going to be living in the country real soon with no street lighting within 40 minutes of me, so by going a little overkill and doing quads is going to help me not hit deer and other animals.

Not sure if you feel that way from experience or just what you've been told. The D2S O lens is definitely wider than the mini. I've installed a number of each and even with the newest version H1 7.0 the D2S still has a wider pattern. The advantage of the mini is the foreground limiter and ease of installation. If you can fit em I recommend the D2S over a mini all day. Now the x lens is a different story. Because of the lens design it has a bowing effect on the ends and effectively reduces it's width.
Thanks!

I have the X lense, so it does have the narrower spread. I am happy to hear that though and my guy wasn't just making things up What is your thought about mixing a DS2 X lense on top, then a DS2 O lens on the bottom? Or do you think the h-1 on the bottom will be a good set up? It seems like you have some knowledge and experience so I'd love to hear from a neutral party!
Thanks!
Thanks!

I've been thinking about a quad Mini H1 7.0 setup for my 2015. In each headlight one would just be for the low beams and one would just be for the high beams with the glare shield removed. I'm thinking Morimoto HID bulb for the low beam and an Opt7 LED bulb in the high beam to retain instant-on and flash capability. But I haven't fully decided yet as I also like how it was done by the OP in this thread.

The shrouds get cut/shaven down anyways. So as long as you dont pick something huge like an FXR or akin, you'll be OK.
Mini H1 is around 280 bucks. D2S close to 400.

If you want better projectors, then you will have a lot more work ahead of you.
The headlights are big enough for FXR's or TL's, just a lot of hacking and JB welding. My previous vehicle was a 2014 Ford Escape SE. I did quad projectors. All four on all the time. The lows I had TL's and the high's I had the Mini's. But what a chore lol.

Hey guys try not to laugh at this question but...is it possible to put the projectors in the wrong side of the headlight.. i.e. left headlight or right headlight...or are the headlights just aimed really bad at the moment. keep in mind I still have the headlight lenses off and I'm just trying to get the projector output level on the wall like the OP said to do. Thanks for any help with this!!!
