I am building a special order with various dealerships and they all quote the base MRSP for a Lariat, 145 WB 2.7l SCREW 4wd as 48785. When I build the truck on Ford.com the base MSRP for this configuration is 48285, exactly 500 less. The difference is not due to options, destination fees, etc. Any ideas? Is the dealer "padding" the MSRP to make the difference between the final MSRP with all the options and the sale price they quote me look better? it seems that the price they quote me is 6-7% under final MSRP (before rebates, etc.). Wondering if there is an additional 500 on the table.

 

Any dealer site has the sticker available to look at via a link. That should show you everything.

They are not allowed to pad the MSRP.
