Default difference between 2wd and 4wd?

does anyone know what the difference is between 2wd front struts and springs and 4wd struts and springs? I was reading a thread about the height difference between 4wd and 2wd and the two wheels drive is lower.....I'm looking to lower the front of my 4x4 1 inch or so...could I accomplish this with 2wd stuts and springs? and can you just bolt them right in? thanks

The shocks and struts from a 2wd will bolt in. Might as well take out the block in the rear as well and it will lower the back of the truck about 1-1.25"

They are likely softer since the 2wd truck is lighter.
