Did the same thing and have excellent results on my last 2 trucks. I didn't do anything to my 06 F150 and sold it after 6 years. The guy that bought has had one side of the frame completely ROT OUT with rust!!! He has had to perform extensive frame welding with plate to keep it on the road. So for those that haven't had any frame rusting out living in New England that's great but I've seen many many F150 frames rusted out in Connecticut. Currently the black top roads around here are completely white. They look they've been painted there is so much dried salt brine on them which is pathetic.

Bottom line I'm glad I went with undercoating from a LineX dealer with a life time guarantee. I bring it in once a year for a no charge inspection. If anything is needed it's done FREE of charge. My LineX dealer has been in business 15 years so I expect them to be around should something be necessary. For those with trucks that simply don't rust out that's great as mine sure hasn't been so. BTW I get mine washed down AFTER every single snow fall.......

Our blacktop roads are the same, white with salt after the ice and snow are gone, when you drive or meet a vehicle, there is a cloud of salt dust in the air.

I’ve done undercoating on a few cars I’ve owned over the years specifically for noise reduction. It does work. I used spray cans from an auto parts store or WalMart. Doing the foot wells makes a noticeable difference.

Thanks Gents for your suggestions. seems like slightly more people lean to doing undercoating. is it good to do it for NOT-brand new truck like 2 months old? I would assume they need to clean it first, then dry it thoroughly before doing it. Thanks

Touchless car wash around the corner has water jets that come up from the ground as soon as you enter the bay. Any chance these high pressure jets can do damage to the under carriage? I know it's not 100% proof but it does help with getting the salt off.
Don`t know about the pressure, but unless things have changed, these "touchless"/ coin operated & even commercial car washes do not use fresh water for each vehicle.. Their water is all recycled & is used over & over. The EPA would never allow that water to just go down the drain. How clean it gets depends on how good their filtering system is. I used to have to take tractor trailers to a USPS auto wash facility & it smelled worse than a hog farm. They hardly ever changed the filter media.

I use fluid film in mine as well here in Canada. Canadian Tire offers it.

I take the spare off so they can spray beneath it and before I put the spare back up, i slather all purpose grease on the cable for the spare tire to prevent it from seizing up and rusting together. Don’t forget to spray/grease the spare tire hold down so it doesn’t rust out and drop the tire.

I krown’d mine as soon as I got it. With metal under carnage, parts, it was a no brainer, didn’t even think twice. I’ve done it on every truck I have had, and it does help threw those winter months.
