I am looking for a diamond plate tailgate protector for my 2018 F150 with the tailgate step. There are several mats and plastic covers but the only diamond plate covers I see wrap around the top of the tailgate and don't work with the tailgate step. Anybody have any suggestions?

 

I would also like one the top. It would be nice if it wrapped around the inner edge a bit. The plastic gets gouged when dragging stuff from the bed. I understand the step top is also easily ripped off.....Make mine black powdercoat, please.

 

My brother in law is supposed to be making me a powder coated black one out of 11 gauge steel. We are meeting in Chicago this weekend, so I should have it then. I created another thread on this and will make the updates there.

Edit: this is only the step cover piece that breaks off, I re-read your post, and it looks like you're wanting something for the whole inside of the tailgate.

 

Die grinder, Sawzall, band saw, table saw...

Most of them are only for looks, and end up getting severely dented, edges pulled over, etc. when you actually throw stuff around in the the bed. I'd pony up for a sheet of 6061 series 0.125" thick brite-tread for some tough duty plating.

0.18 if you REALLY toss things around back there. 0.25 if you want to let Elon land his rockets on your tailgate.
