Default Default to Sport/Eco/Tow - working!

I saw a reference to this in another thread, but I made the purchase for the Drive Mode Memory Module and did the 15min install this morning. This thing is great, it takes your last transmission setting and carries it forward between restarts. So if your last setting was Tow, you stay in Tow. Or Sport. Or whatever you want.

No idea if it works on a column, but they say in the video it is programmable for other/older F150's that don't have all 5 of the selections (normal/tow/snow/sport/eco). Details for how to do this are at then end of the video (about 14:40). I have no affiliation with these folks, but I'm certainly happy with it for $40.

I still think it's dumb Ford doesn't do this. I'd never seen another vehicle that you have to manually set the mode every time you start it up. First WTF moment I had after purchasing.

This is kind of kludgy how you have to wait for it, but better than nothing.

The description claims 2017-2019 models ... will this work on 2015 & 2016 models?

The timing is set by default to 10 seconds, I changed it to 5 and it's fine. Certainly faster than I used to remember every time I started the vehicle. Though I should mention I turned off the Ford animated splash screen quick-boot thing with Forscan, not sure if that's buying me a few more seconds.

This is for emission standards and EPA testing. When they test the car, it has to start with the default setting which Ford wants the car tested and stay that way. There should not be any interaction to set the car up. My past BMW's(9) have all been the same, you have to activate "sport" mode every time

All of the vehicles with this option I've been around revert back to normal after restarting. Has to do with MPG testing. Seems like they're even about to start removing the ability to defeat Auto Start/Stop with the push of a button.

Can you post up some links to and recently made vehicles that dont revert back to "normal" mode after a power cycle? I have never seen a single one, and ive driven a ton of cars from Ferraris to Fiestas and every one reverts back to normal mode when the power is cycled.

My guess is that the connectors are different on the 15-16 model years b/c I think they only had normal, tow, and sport mode. Im not for sure on that, but its likely.
