Dead Speaker - Upgrade?
Ok... so I finally took both front door panels off and swapped speakers to confirm that one is dead. I am looking through Crutchfield now for a pair of replacements. I do not need anything crazy. Just a pair for the fronts. I dont even care to change out the door pillars if not necessary. Looking to keep it under $200.... give some suggestions.
Not sure what system you have but I can tell you that the 3 ohm speakers do not play nice with the B&O system. They are too much load on the amp at higher volume and cut out often. I ended up with Polk DB 6x9's and are quite happy with them.
A nice thing when you order from Crutchfield is that they normally include any adapter plugs and other hardware needed to easily swap your OEM speakers for some aftermarket ones at no extra cost. You might pay a bit more from them, but you get more. And no, I don't have any affiliation with them.
Just use their guide to make sure the speaker will fit you vehicle, and check the ohms of the new speaker, as well as the sensitivity. I normally go with a speaker with at least a 90 sensitivity rating, and higher is better. The ohms rating for our non premium speakers seems to be somewhere between 3 and 4, so I would stay with those. And to keep what bass that you already have, get a 6x9 instead of one of the other options. (Unless you plan to add a subwoofer) I have not replaced any of the speakers in my F150 yet, but have in several previous trucks. And have had good experiences with this company.

Whatever you choose be sure it is a low impedance speaker as the amp driving them is limited in output. A low impedance speaker will be easier to drive thus more efficient. Crutchfield is a good place to find these details and do comparison. If you find a better price call them. As mentioned they include mounting brackets, hardware, adapter pigtails and if you need them detailed instructions so compare apples to apples. After you get the fronts installed and listen you'll wonder why you weren't smart enough to do the rear doors as well so do all at the same time. Oh yea... lift up the trey on the dash and disconnect ( unplug) the sqwauky speaker under there, your ears will thank you.
If you had the B&O system it would have a B&O logo on the center channel if you even have a center channel. Regardless of what system you have and just as everyone else has said here, hit up Crutchfield for everything you need. They will include whatever mounting brackets and speaker harness adapters you will need and guarantee all of it.
