My 2018 has had a warped dash since new, at 2300 miles I went to Metro Ford to start the process of getting a replacement. I was advised like many of you on them being back ordered. After being ran through circles for a year with Metro, I ended up trying my hand at another dealer. Max Ford...2 years later have a new dash. Setup the appointment to have this done, the heater core coolant flush TSB, transmission flash, and a few other minor warranty issues. They get the truck late February. I got a call a couple week ago, trucks ready for pickup. I go out and start looking at the truck - no warp.. BUT every single panel that attaches to the dash is now scratched, broken (clips or corners) and the new dash has 2 large scratches in the top middle section. Notice oil on both sides of the truck, and a scratch on the right tail lamp with white paint transfer. I called the service dept as I waited outside, (due to COVID protocol) and they come out, and advised them I am refusing to take the truck back looking like this. For those that know me personally, or have seen my pickup, it is immaculate- They state they messed up and offer to make it right, and will be robbing a dash from another customer or truck (not sure) and replacing all damaged interior parts. Fast forward to this Tuesday - trucks is supposedly done. I go in to pickup... New dash is scratched, center stack radio bezel has grooves in the top middle and the chrome ring around the shift bezel warped (new panel) and pulled from edge. They also "detailed" the truck and buffed that tail light. Now, the new dash isn't as bad as the first (photo below). Dealer stated they were aware of the scratch and that it wasn't that bad when installed...me wondering exactly what that means..then the two argue about if it was there or wasn't.. regardless its there.. So now, they pitch they cant get another dash, I proposed a lariat dash and me pay difference, another dash replacement (XLT) when available and parts for center stack and console replaced.I was advised they don't feel " comfortable" doing a dash replacement because they cant obviously do it right (their words). What the hell do I do here? I hate the idea of the truck being gone another month, (still making the payment) and the fact they could butcher the new dash too and be at the same spot again. I have called Ford CS and was promised return calls now 3 times. Nothing returned. I dont know what the hell to do at this point. I should have took advice and not done the replacement and lived with the warp.
To add fuel to fire. I had TSB19-2121 and they ended up replacing the coolant with the same problematic orange coolant instead of the motorcraft yellow per the TSB.... another issue for another day. Taking recommendations on quality KCMO area dealers.
Damn I hate to hear about your troubles and lack of service. I assume you haven't paid a dime for this, correct? Have you tried getting a quote from a custom interior shop to overlay leather, suede or any other material to your dash? At this point, your best bet might be to pay some professionals who know what the hell they are doing.
Man this whole thing must be a nightmare for you.
This is the exact reason i don't want the frozen lock TSB done considering i don't have the problem.
What could possibly go wrong removing the door panels.
In other words, If it works, don't fix it.
A long shot and likely won't be a perfect solution but might try contacting some detailers to see if they can do something with those scratches.

I have used Bob Allen Ford in Overland Park, KS. The Sales Manager is a friend of mine, and a deacon in my church. They have always gone out of their way to make things right...tell Tim Smith at Bob Allen your story, ask him for assistance...tell him his pastor sent you...
Sorry to hear. This is 100% a dealer issue. I had my dash replaced at my dealer and if you sat in my truck you wouldn’t be able to tell. I’m sure I lucked out with my dealer but I’m positive there is a dealer around you who is capable of making things right for you.
Any broken/marred parts can be replaced besides the scratches on the actual dash. Having said that a proper interior detailer can make magic happen with a heat gun on those scratches. My recommendation to deal with this dealership who screwed it up would be to request the broken parts to be ordered and supplied to you where you can install yourself or take them to someone who knows how. And a credit to a local detail shop who can remove the scratches from the dash.
Thats is how I would handle it.
After that.... never step foot in that dealer again. Drive an hour if you have to but avoid it. Bad service department.
I have had good dealings with Bob Sight, Blue Springs, and Metro ford. But cant say I have ever had any "major" work done. All of my fords have been fairly reliable. I don't think I would ever have Max Ford in Harrisonville service any car. Its in Harrisonville... They like Meth more than Independence. It is nice to see the dealship decline to do the work, hopefully they do that from now on with any new customers wanting the same thing. If you cant do something properly, just say so, that's honest.
If it aint broke don't fix it. It sucks that its true in most cases.
I have had good luck at Thoroughbred Ford off Barry Road up north. I see you're in LS so that might be a drive. They just did cam phaser SSM on my 18 3.5l. Got good updates, no problem from them when i asked about other issues and such. If you go up there/call them ask for Jon Green.
