Default Dash lights

I have searched but couldn’t find anything specific. I am new to Ford and F150s. On my new to me 2015 xlt are the dash lights(steering wheel, a/c controls, ect.) supposed to come on immediately when the parking lights and headlights come on or are they on a different sensor? Occasionally I have noticed that when the headlights come on the dash lights are not on. I can shut the truck off and they will light up. I do have the add on remote start.(lock, lock, lock). I seem to notice it when I have remote started it but I am not sure if that is related. Just wondered if anyone has run into this. Thanks for your help.

The dash lighting is independent of the headlights. When headlights are on the green indicator under the tach will illuminate.

That's exactly what I wanted to hear. I can see the green headlight symbol illuminated but was worried I had a problem because when the headlights first come on as the sun is going down I still didn’t see the dash lights on. Thanks for the help.
