Default Dash & AC lighting question

I think I might have the stupid question of the month, possibly the quarter.

On my 2019 XLT when I have the headlight switch set to automatic the dash and AC / blower speed dial lights are dim. If I turn the headlight switch all the way to the left in off then the dash and HVAC lights are then bright. I have tried turning the dash light dimmer all the way up too. Oh when they switch is on auto there is a green headlight icon on the RPM gauge

It sounds to me like your automatic setting is doing it’s job and turning your headlights on when it’s dark, which also auto dims your display screen and accessory lights in the cab. If you have a green headlight icon, your headlights are on.

Is this happening during the day in full sun, or only after dark/in a dark garage?

Weird. Maybe the automatic headlight sensor is blocked or faulty? Are your headlights on when this is happening?
