Default damage at the dealer....

I am left without thought as I reflect upon my day....

Dropped my 5 week old F150 Screw off at the local dealer today for two repairs...
1) had it in a month ago for driver's side doors to be aligned. And today they replaced the front door's rubber seals...no biggy, RIGHT?
2) also, the rear left outer door handle bezel was sloppy, one of the inside mounting screws/bolts was not tightened all the way in and wouldn't tighten more. So they ordered a new one, had it painted (chrome handle, bezel needed to be paint matched) prior to my return today for install...EZ PEEZEE, right????

So let's look at repair #1, in order to change the glass seal, I guess they had to remove the glass from the inside due to my vent visors....and somehow they managed to scratch the door frame on the inside of the door....see picture.

Now repair #2, hard to get good pics today in the daylight (damn that blue is mirror like). But somehow they managed to scratch the actual DOOR. Also, what a terrible paint job of the new bezel, in the circle on the pic you can see they didn't disassemble the handle to paint the bezel...it's white under there! AND, not pictured, the bezel's new paint is pitted, as if there was a reaction, not to mention the orange peel.
Co-incidentally, their painter was there and he tried to touch up the scratches in the door panel, as seen in the pic, those chips have paint on them.

Anyways, they're gonna fix it, they'll need it for a few days...

I'm pee'd off...just not sure how to react to this.

Hey at least they are going to fix it for you. Years ago (1992) when I took my truck over for an issue they had to keep it over night, so no big deal or so I thought. The next day I waited for them to call and let me know that my truck was done when I got a phone call from one of the worker bees saying I needed to get down to the dealer because their was an issue with my truck.
Well I show up and theirs a police officer standing next to my truck and says is this your truck and my comment was yes it was. He then asks about the status of my second set of keys and my comment was they were at home because the dealer has the other, well to make a long story short someone had removed the stero, amp, and speakers out of my truck. The aftermarket stero was put in at a local dealer at a cost of about 2k for everything. At first the dealer tried to say they were not responsible for fire or theft per their posted rules, well I noticed the stereo was removed very carefully with no damage done. The police then find out that the mechanic that worked on my truck left the keys in the truck at night and the police figured it was an inside job because of the time that it took to remove the stero. I ended up getting a check from the dealer to cover the cost of installing all the new stero parts.

I've been in the Automotive Aftermarket business for over 25 yrs....and have sold bodyshop stuff and duPont paint over the years....so I kinda have an idea of what it takes to do these repairs...
Spoke to a friend in Sebring, Florida who owns a bodyshop and although he's shocked they'd give me back the truck like that, he has reassured me that it's all an easy fix. So my nerves have settled down a bit! LOL.

Lumpy and feifel, man, I'd be super pissed to have those things happen to me! It's stressful enough to just leave my truck there!! Now I will have to leave it for a few days!

my girlfriend took her car in for some warranty work at the Mitsubishi dealer and they left a red shop rag under the hood. It got sucked into the intake tube. 10 miles down the road she was stranded.

Nothing shocks me anymore.

I took my truck in to have the bedliner sprayed in that was included in the deal. Picked it up, first thing I noticed was the chrome strip on the tailgate handle was cracked. Looks like the tailgate rested on it when they were scuffing it for the bedliner. Then I noticed bedliner over spray in a lot of places, even on the cab. I point it all out and the Service Advisor takes note. I contact the Service Manager as well as there seems to be a question on whether they will fix the tailgate handle. I go ahead and clean up the overspray as I want to limit the opportunity for any additional screw ups. I did leave it on the tailgate step so they could clean it, or replace it. Three weeks later, after I call them to find out the status, they say, yea, we will fix it, the part is here, bring it in. Then for the following week they tell me that the part is on order and they are waiting...

When I took it in I had a sit down with the Service Manager, I was really nice, but wanted to let him know they had a big miss start to finish in the way this was handled. When they screw up, they should own it. Instead he wanted to tell me they hadn't had any issues with bedliner since "Joe" started doing them, blah, blah, blah. I was watching him the entire time, and he had that look of "I wish this guy would just leave" in his eyes. So I decided my warranty work will be done some where else now...

Wondering if they actually thought that they could get away with that? Who wouldn't notice those things?

The first picture is the giant tear in the carpet they thought they could hide with some help from the detailing dept. The second is where they did not put the cap back on the bolt under the gas and brake pedal to secure the carpet. The third and forth picture are where they forgot to put plugs in after removing the drive and passenger seats so they could replace the dash. They have since fixed everything and I got a free oil change and loaner.

I guess they think we are blind.

Welcome in the club! Took in my 2015 XLT for service and they did right away make an appraisal for a trade in. When the truck was still in for service, the sales guy comes by and handed me over the appraisal sheet. "Yeah I know it's low but you have scratches all over the place on your driver side..."

Long story short. They damaged my driver and driver side rear door. Sure they fixed it. $1,480 damage showed up on the bill. 14 days in a loaner car. Now I am in a 2016 Lariat because they had second thoughts on how to make it right. The point I like to make. Do most of the people have no honor or pride in doing what they do anymore? How could you damage other peoples property and doing like it wasn't you? Maybe I'm getting old......
