Success.

What I was doing wrong was not dragging the auto-install and the other downloaded file into the drive with
the 3.0 update files.

For someone that isn't very computer literate... kinda proud of myself for figuring it out. lol

EDIT:

After spending the last hour going through the 3.0 update I have found it to work perfectly. I use carplay/amazon/usb sticks for my music. Works great. I noticed a new update for Gracenote as well. 1.1.1. 1139 NA0010

The best part FOR ME is it has added the heated steering wheel Icon to the home screen. I didn't/don't want the seat icons on the home screen as I've just always used the buttons directly underneath. Haven't been able to have just the HSW Icon without the Seat Icons displayed as well. Now just the HSW Icon is by it's lonesome on the home screen. Really happy about this.

Also, My Sync 3 replaced Sync 2 that came with my 2015. Bought the unit from Texasfording and installed approx. 6
months a go. Unit has and is working flawlessly. Nav 3.0 Update complete and working perfectly.

I believe the formatting on the thumb drive needs to be FAT/FAT32. Might want to check as most are NTFS.

Correct! I used a 64gig EXFAT drive that still had about 20 gig of flac music on it.

Added the heating steering wheel control to my home screen as well by default. I used FORscan to manually add the cooled seats icons too since the heated steering wheel by itself looked a little out of place.
