So have the updates started to roll out? I am still on v1.0 and haven't seen any messages on my truck about updating.

Does the car have to be in park for Wi-Fi to be active and update?

No updates yet. Ford says by the end of the month. We shall see.

I have a 2016 XLT 302A packaged vehicle that I just bought roughly three weeks ago. Basically I need to wait for this new update before I can use Apple CarPlay? If so, it's also my understanding that I will have to change out the USB ports under the radio as well?

If so, what all will be involved in doing that?

go back page 1 and start reading. In short, a 3 week old truck should have v2 already, just change usb hub for carplay to work. Android should be fine as is since it can use BT connectivity.

Just because he bought his truck three weeks ago doesn't mean he has v2, it all depends on when his truck was built. I also bought my truck 3 weeks ago and I have v1.

Yeah, I'm 99% sure my truck doesn't have the v2.0 version. My truck was sitting on the dealership lot for quite some time.

trucks were showing up in July with the update. It's easy to check your version, on the Sync3 unit, goto settings, then general and down towards the bottom of the page it about. That will show you the version of the system. You will also want to sign up on owner.ford.com, that will also show the sync version and when it was installed.

You have a 2017, so you are CarPlay ready now. You shouldn't need the new hub. Since the 17's were shipped as CarPlay enabled.
