Hello all.
I just picked up a 2016 SCREW last month that came with Sync 3 version 2.0 and the two 'blue' USB connectors.
If I understand this thread correctly I have to change the USB connectors to get the Apple CarPlay to work?
I am having a number of other issues with the Sync system and I am wondering if it's common or if I have a unique issue going on. When I connect my iPhone 6 to the USB the Sync rarely picks up Pandora or Spotify. When it does connect to the Pandora app it doesn't last for more than a few minutes. I have never got Spotify to work. I have tried a number of iPhone cables and my kids iPhones exhibit the same issues so I know it's not the phone or cable. Also, when i click on available updates I just get the rotating circle that doesn't stop until i cancel it.
This is my first Ford and I must say that I am very disappointed in the Sync technology and I am a bit surprised that a manufacture would advertise the features and functionality of Sync knowing it doesn't work. A couple of pics to demonstrate my issues.
pic 1. Version info
pic 2. Typical view where the system sometimes recognizes the apps but they are 'greyed out'
pic 3 the spinning "circle of nothing" on my updates
pic 4 Sync recognizes the apps but when I clicked on Spotify or Pandora they don't work.
Interesting you say that. When the tech and I spoke, standing next to my truck while he was uploading the software, the computer read "loading V1.9". Whatever the version, it did correct the Bluetooth lockup that had been occurring.
Yes this was an update/patch. I guess Ford's server doesn't know what version of updates/patches it's downloading to dealer techs.

Provide me your VIN and I will go on OASIS/PTS and show you what was loaded.
Just noted a couple of days ago that Android Auto, Audio only, works on my 2016 w/Version 1.
I don't show the app on the Sync screen but directions work fine and audio is via my F150 speakers.
Previously I had nothing, couldn't even connect.
