Is the current 2.7 considered "2nd Generation"?
I know that the 2.7 has the upper CGI block with the lower aluminum engine body (Post 5/2016). But, does it also has direct injection AND port injection? 2 injectors per cylinder?
Details are fuzzy.

The currently available 2.7 does not have Ford's new dual injection system slated for the new 3.5.
Neither does the 3.0 Lincoln clone of the 2.7...with 400 HP/400 TQ!

To my knowledge, the 2.7 has a CGI block, offset rods, and twin timing chains. It is an upgrade from an automotive "tech" point of view.
The 2nd gen 3.5L adds dual injection for valve cleaning, over fueling, oil dilution but doesn't use the CGI block which disappoints me as a potential future buyer. The aluminum block is said to be strengthened. It also has hollow cams.

The 2.7 Eco was a brand new, "clean sheet" designed engine, released exclusively for the 2015 F150 as the first mass production application. We're now seeing iterations spin off to other models (Fusion, Lincoln, etc..) with minor tweaks. Don't expect major changes to this engines for several years, I would bet. Ford got it right on this one.
Can't wait to test drive the 2.7 Fusion Sport.....should be a big time sleeper!
Tuners must be drooling to get their hands on that one....
