so with my tire and spacer combo I do get some rubbing. Especially on the passenger side.
I’d love to not cut the front crash bars off. Mainly due to the work required to do that.
Its just a bit of rub. Can I use a grinder and grind the rubbing section off of the bar? I‘ve seen people mention a port a power, I have no idea what that is or how to use it. Can someone give a tutorial?
is it that bad to let them slightly rub? It’s not gonna cause the tires to burst or anything is it?
A port a power is a hydraulic tool, probably being used to force the bar away (i.e. bend it). People also trim them. All changes make it less safe then intended.
A port-a-power is essentially a large hydraulic jack, and functions as such. It's hand powered, and very simple. Mine still rub a bit. It likely weakens the metal some due to some minor deflection and stress being added. Not to mention the angle of the bars is obviously changed which can impact it as well. Basically I'd classify crash bar modifications as such from safest to least safe. I chose to spread mine, but still have a slight rub at full lock left in reverse, I just don't turn hard left while backing.
