The regional customer service rep has contacted my dealer, so things are moving a bit. I'll keep you posted.

After going round and round with Customer Service (case opened via contact with FordService on this thread) about whether there's a problem or not, I was basically forced to bring it in to my dealer today. I told the service advisor I had hope, but not much confidence, that they'd be able to fix it, and that me bringing it in was a waste of their and my time. Until/unless Ford acknowledges there IS a problem, there is no fix available. Regardless, I let them rip my seats apart, just for them to tell me "Yup, the seat backs don't get very cool, if at all." The Technician supposedly called in to their hotline, who told the tech that it's supposed to cool only the lumbar region, not the whole seatback. OK, I said. *DOES* it cool the lumbar region? Uhhhh. No.

After walking in with printouts of this thread, the survey showing over 250 people reporting this issue, and pictures of people who had opened their seatbacks so it would vent properly and DID cool, the Service Advisor and I took a stroll out to the lot and sat in a very hot Platinum F150 (black seats), and started it up. Within short order, our butts were cool, but backs still sweaty. About all she could do was agree with me that it seems not to do what it's supposed to.

NO ****! Hence, the problem!!!

She said their regional service people were supposed to be there in the dealership next week, and that she'd keep my paperwork open, and keep the issue from being back-burnered.

I suggest everyone who has this issue B) open a case with Ford Customer Service, and B) take it to your dealer. They won't be able to fix it, but neither can they ignore it.

The more people complain, will be the only way it gets resolved. If only a few of us do, they won't likely address it.

Things are going to get more expensive the longer Ford waits. The heat has ruined my passenger seat back. I will have this addressed the first of August, I've already got an appointment.

I tried to clean, didn't help.

So I opened up the driver's seat a little while ago and found this

so I checked the passenger side and found this

So I re-ziptied both seats... they are both somewhat working now, but the exhaust design on the seats is crap. And the flex hose is too short and flattens out when the air bladders are full. And the QC by Ford is crap... look at the second picture and see how loose the ziptie is... And honestly? zipties?

I know this is a first world problem, but we also paid first world money for these trucks... I'd like mine to work as advertised because I love this truck!

I've tried to unzip the seats and I can get the stretch bands off their hooks, but I have to disconnect a couple plugs to get them to release. However, i'm having issues getting the plugs to disconnect.

Excuse me if this has been posted before.

The 2015 Edge has similar problems, and one owner took the seat apart and found this.

If it was mine, I would probably put some hi-temp silicone caulk at the at the connection to back up the zip-tie.

You don't need to disconnect the plugs... simply pull them down out of the mount and let them hang still connected. It's a pretty good tug at first but they will come out. In fact, if you don't pull them out of the mount, the stretch bands won't disengage because they plugs are mounted in the way.

I just got my truck on Tuesday. I have good cooling on the seat bottom and the seat back (in the middle, not top or lumbar area). Here's a pic of my drivers side. Do the Lariat cooled seats differ from the King Ranch and Platinums? Is the lumbar area supposed to cool or just the middle portion of the seat back? It cools, but the area behind the seat where it vents gets pretty hot!

Ok guys well I finally got sick of all the lack of action from the FORD reps and I am taking matters into my own hands for some testing. I will keep you guys in the loop but I plan to design some add on parts to the TED and 3D print them. Hopefully my engineering and 3D printing can fix this problem since it seems like no one at FORD is owning up to the issue.

Pulled the TED out today for some reverse engineering measurements. Here we go. Oh and FYI when you try to remove the little clip that holds the wires be careful. I broke a tab on mine...

One side exhaust kit designed so far. Will be looking to add a barb to the outlet and find some hose. The diameter of the circle outlet matches the area of the outlet on the top of the TED.
