Default Coolant Flush Question

2016 F150 3.5EB with 120K

My truck has never had the coolant flushed. The only time it would have been touched is when I hit a deer and the radiator had to be replaced by the body shop.

Questions is, it doesn't leak now... If I take it to the dealer to be flushed is that likely to stir up a leak? Better off to drain and fill?

Take it to the dealer and let them dispose of the waste properly.

It’s not like a transmission where changing the fluid on something with 200k original fluid causes problems.

I think a *coolant* flush is a good idea, not just a gimmick, and I've never had a problem with one, but it's not due until 150K miles. When was your radiator replaced? A significant portion of your coolant doesn't even have 120K miles on it. You may be able to delay the need for a flush and refill for a while.

Manual states 6yrs or 100k miles. If you have the orange coolant/ Dexcool it would be a good idea to flush and change. Ford now uses Yellow WSS-M97B57-A1.

As mentioned, if you have the orange, sure a flush is the proper way to go. If you have the yellow, and it's clean, I'd drain it refill with same amount.
FYI, Jiffy Lube (and probably others) will take your old antifreeze for free.

My truck was running in the 220s so I replaced thermostat and took it in for a flush to get the yellow coolant. Also at 96k so figured it was close enough anyway. Runs close to 200 now so much better.

However they also performed the tailgate unintentional open recall and now my tailgate doesn't open when I want it to and opens randomly. They claim it was broken when I brought it in but I had to question them as to why it wasn't opening before they said it was like that before?

Moral of the story is I wish I had just gotten my fluid flushed.
