Default Continental TerrainContact A/T 275/55R20/Ruined King Ranch Rims

Had local ford dealer install these Continental TerrainContact A/T 275/55R20. They price matched the lowest price I could find on the internet $183, they wanted $230 a tire. These tires are awesome(esp at $183 a tire) haven’t broken them in but they proform well on the pavement and 9/10 in the foot of snow we got today. I will say I love Continental tires!

Interesting enough, when installing the new tires every single one of the rims was ruined. They all started to peel(king ranch PVD), so they sent pictures to ford and they warrantied all four. Thank god!!!

Saw no reviews on these tires when I looked so thought I’d share!

I was very scared they would reject it! Service advisor said don’t worry about it because Ford is more willing to warranty things for higher end trucks. I don’t know if that’s true but this time it they did.

Wow... that is butt ugly. It looks like someone didn't install the tire properly by protecting the rims? Not saying that's what happened only it looks like that happened.

Doesn't matter since the dealer got everything all warranteed. However if someone is changing tires on PVD rims might do before warranty runs out...... just saying.....

Service guy said no way they damaged the rim. I agree it was partly caused by the install. I agree if you have PVD rims change the tires out and inspect before 36k warranty runs out. Service advisor said if I was beyond 36k(I have 35k now) they wouldn’t do anything. You can see around the edges where it’s peeling in the photo.

That could have happened when the tire was removed, the bead might have caught the flaking plastic and popped it right off. Good then they caught it now, at some point they would have started peeling even without pulling the tires.

Pretty sure you are right about being more willing to warrant the higher end trucks, my 502a has had a lot of warranty work and they (Ford) applied a 75K extended warranty, with no hassles.

Then, what do you expect the next time you get tires? Sure, you got this set covered, but in another 35-40k miles you’ll have new tires installed. I’d do it at a different dealer, in case it was really caused by them.

My rims began peeling by themselves still on OEM tires. Was still under 36k so they replaced all 4. They did not look like that so I believe yours were beginning to peel and the service tech made things a lot worse by not handling them properly.
