I was tooling around in my truck yesterday and noticed how much less skitter the rear end has over bumps at high speed. The handling is noticeably improved. Very happy that I went with the Bilsteins for my lift.

I always thought it was dampening as well. Learn something new every day.

Yea, it's a seemingly-trivial detail... that one syllable... hahaha...

One might dampen a sponge or rag with water. They might be, if proper use of English isn't being ignored here, "dampening" that item.

One damps spring oscillation with an hydraulic or friction device (think 100-year-old autos, right before the infamous Houdaille shock absorber of the 1920s and '30s).
They would be "damping" that spring.

Glad to hear you love them I hope you have better luck than I've had , twice.

Had two sets of 5100's , both times one of them ended up leaking and blown after a year. Both times installed by reputable installer that does 100's of lift/level a year. I'm not talking about a little seeping like the manual shows , I mean full on rough riding oil all over the shock, blown.

Of course they'll warranty them if you send them in , at least that what I was told, yeah like I want to stick my truck on blocks while you approve a replacement.

On sale for $349 right now.. Thinking about pulling the trigger.

Assuming this voids the warranty?

no it wont void any warranty, unless the install breaks something in the front end in the process.

$349? I think I better contact AutoAnything!

So I was calling around to different shops today for a quote on installing my front struts as well as mounting and balancing new tires and an alignment...

Shop #1: $822
Shop #2: $689
Shop #3: $475

I was astounded at the range in pricing!

That's nuts. My local hole in the wall shop that I always take my stuff to charges $45/hour and does a great job. So prob $200 to install struts and alignment. Then I take it to the local chevy dealer cause they will mount and road force balance my mud tires for $80. I'd keep shopping around.

I got similar quotes, I ended up using the auto crafts center on the military base I work at. Cost me $34 and took me an hr and a half!
