We've both got the same truck, I'm gonna go out in a bit and see if it will with the hood open, coulda sworn I did it once or twice.
Where are you in Ontario? If not too far, I could possibly look at it.

Just checked it out, yes, truck will start with the hood up. I got 13volts in 2H position, and 5volts in 4H, and a ton of mosquito bites.

Hey, when you test for vacuum, I know truck needs to be running to generate the vacuum and trip the solendoid, but does the truck need to be in drive? or can it be idling in park? I test in 2wd, but truck is in park.

Can be tested in park. No need to be in gear.
