Default Confused

It has been awhile , but anyway , some gremlins found their way into my 2005 STX and started messing with electrical.

So found me and the wife found ourselves at a dealership last Wednesday, and ended up with a 2017 F150 Lariat, FX4 ,copy of window sticker says 502A and technology package. But doesn't have the 360 camera. But still a huge upgrade lol

What I am confused about is , sticker say Sync 3 , Sync connect , then there is android auto on the screen.

I'm guessing
Sync 3 is just the interface?

Sync connect?? Does this do anything besides let me connect to fordpass? Also thought this would allow me to add truck to att? But I don't see an option to turn a hot spot on?

Android Auto , don't have a clue what this does? Is this for when just plugging into the usb ports?

Thanks Nate

Android Auto or Apple Car Play (depending if you have an Android based phone or Iphone) allow you to connect your phone via the USB ports and run Navigation and some other apps on your phone through the stereo.

Previous owner must have had a Android phone.

Thank you , I have an android phone , however apple play and droid were on the screen at test drive , they did a master reset at dealer , now apple isn't there.

I my phone already had android auto on it , I just couldn't figure out what the relationship was.

You don't have to have the Android Auto app on your phone. One of the system updates a year or two ago integrated that function into the phone's operating system. To use it, connect your phone with a USB cord to one of the USB outlets in the console and it should pop up automatically.

Apple CarPlay will show up again once an iPhone is plugged in. It was present before because the previous owner must have been using it, and then the dealer master reset cleared it.

Nothing needs to be installed on the truck, it will come back when the phone is connected.

Yes, Sync Connect enables FordPass app and should allow you to pay for a ATT hotspot. Check in your FordPass app on your phone. Vehicle tab, scroll down to "Features & Settings" and there should be an option for Wi-Fi Hotspot.
